MOCSA Young Welsh Singer of the Year 2012

Trystan Llŷr Griffiths is the 2012 MOCSA Young Welsh Singer of the Year. The Final of the Competition was held at a concert with the Morriston Orpheus Choir on Sunday 16 September at Margam Orangery, Port Talbot and Trystan was the unanimous choice of the Adjudicators, Julian Smith, Leah-Marian Jones and Dr. Richard Elfyn Jones.

Speaking after the announcement Trystan declared that he was “chuffed to bits”. He added:

I can't believe that I've won this great title of MOCSA Young Welsh Singer of the Year, it hasn't sunk in if I'm totally honest.”  A keen rugby player, Trystan revealed; “ I’m glad that I didn't play in a match the day before now !!!"



Trystan is presented with the MOCSA trophy ( sponsored by Gravells  of Kidwelly), by MOCSA Life Member, David Shapland

Trystan Llŷr Griffiths is a 25 yr old Tenor from Clunderwen in Pembrokeshire. He recently completed a MA Vocal Degree Course at The Royal Academy of Music and shortly commences a MA Opera Course at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Eirlys Myfanwy Davies, a 24yr old mezzo-soprano from Llanelli. Eirlys is currently at The Royal Academy of Music in London having previously studied at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff.

Angharad Morgan, a 30yr old soprano from Swansea. Angharad is currently at The Wales International Academy of Voice having previously studied at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Samuel Furness, a 25yr old tenor from Cardiff. Samuel is a graduate of St John's College, Cambridge, currently on the Opera Course at The Royal Academy of Music.
