Memories

A "free" day in Christchurch and the opportunity to see more in and around New Zealands "Garden City. During this sort of tour we always have the pleasure of meeting friends old and new and this trip is no exception.

After last night's concert Gerry Williams, of our Baritone section, met up with Emrys Davies. At 93 Emrys was probably the oldest member of our Christchurch audience.

Even more significant however is the fact that Emrys was a member of the 1935 Llanelli ( or was it Llanelly then !) side that played against the All Blacks. They clearly made an impression on him as he emigrated to New Zealand in 1954 and has lived here ever since.
